New year drink recipes New year hotel deals For those who might be traveling near New Year's Eve on or before is most likely going to encounter some forms of New Year hotel deals. Hotels around the world are targeting those international travelers who just happen to still be traveling even on such a holiday either for pleasure or for business. The hospitality business does well in catering to these globe trotters because not only do they get repeat customers in the future but they also get to capture the higher end of the market segment for international travelers. These are the types that are always on the move around the globe and thus make very good repeat clients for hotels to capture their business the next time around. Hotel offers range from simple free gifts to outright huge discounts on their rooms. This is because it is expected that the occupancy rate of the hotel will be down when this time of the year comes. Naturally, the only ones who are going to need a hotel room on New Year's Eve will be those who are out purely for business or for some important matter. International travelers of course can enjoy these rare offers since they are on rather unusual circumstances. While the rest of the world is enjoying themselves with their families, it sure helps to be given some very special treatments on these special occasions.

These celebrations are not always held on 1 January, but traditions and religious celebrations, parades, costume parties are said by many to bring fortune and good luck in the upcoming year. In Ecuador, South America, New Year or Ano Veijo is commemorated by the creation of a dummy or fake person. The scarecrow-like person is completely stuffed with newspaper cuttings and dressing in fireworks. Those celebrating will place the dummy outside the home, which stands for something that had happened in the past year. When the clock strikes midnight, the families ignite the dummy, and as the firecrackers go off the old year is wiped away and the new one waits. In Greece, children's shoes are filled with presents at midnight by St. Basil. If you live in Denmark and you find piles of broken dishware in front of your door on New Years, be very happy, because it symbolizes that you are a person with many friends. |
